Did One Brilliant Man Illustrate Your Childhood in the 90's?

Did you grow up on the cartoons or comics from The Jim Henson Company back in the 80’s & 90’s? Do you have a fond nostalgia for the greatness of The Muppet Babies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tom & Jerry, or Looney Toons? Did you ever read the comic strip Nancy? Basically, if you’re a millennial, you likely have Guy Gilchrist to thank for most of your favorite memories growing up.

Starting in 1981, Guy & his brother Brad were handpicked by Jim Henson to take over his largest internationally circulated comic strip: The Muppets. Guy’s illustrations were so popular, he was invited to the White House Easter celebration in 1984 by Ronald Reagan. His work was then inducted into the Smithsonian Institution later that same week. How many artists can say they have accomplished even a fraction of that in their career, let alone by 27?

In the nearly four decades that Guy has been working as an illustrator, he has had a career that many of us would envy. He’s a world class illustrator, award winning cartoonist, animator, song writer, musician, & occasional motivational speaker. And this week, he will be coming to Madness Games & Comics to teach several workshops on the ART OF CARTOONING on Wednesday March 17th & Thursday the 18th. With limited seating available, you need to sign up for your spot ASAP!

However, if you can’t make it out, or simply want to learn more about the marvel that is Guy Gilchrist, then you’re in luck. This Wednesday at 10:00 am CST, we will be going live from Madness asking him all of the burning questions that we are dying to know the answers to. So, be sure to join us for this week’s edition of Dallas Geek to find out the truth behind the legend!
