Who's Ready for a Watchmen Inspired Apocalypse?

Well…aren’t we all glad that 2021 has been going so smoothly that post-apocalyptic & all-out anarchy movies are just mindless entertainment that DON’T feel like we’re just watching the nightly news?

While there are plenty of examples in cinema of art imitating life (after all, there are entire genres devoted to that exact thing), one of the craziest experiences that movie fans can have is witnessing life imitate art. Normally, this has been something simple, but spectacular like a town coming together to help celebrate a favorite teacher’s retirement with a heartwarming speech from all of their former students; or a couple who meet while traveling abroad & experience a whirlwind romance that leads to them getting married. We all especially love seeing the stories about the hero dog with the tragic backstory that ends up saving a kid & gets adopted by their family. This is the kind of thing that we think of when we hear people say that they wish their life was like a movie.

However, lately it feels like we should have been MUCH more explicit about what movie we wanted to see in real life because the past year has felt like the opening credits to every post-apocalyptic movie ever made & recent events haven’t convinced us that we’re wrong. As such, we thought now would be the perfect time to discuss the most controversial comic book movie from the 2000’s all about anarchy & Alan Moore’s crazy ideas about how to avert the end of the world. So, let’s follow in Zack Snyder’s footsteps & try to avoid talking about “the squid” as we dive into the latest edition of Does It Still Hold Up!
